Alberta School Board Association Fall General Meeting

Edmonton, Alberta

The Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) is a representative board that includes  61, locally-elected public, separate and francophone school boards in Alberta. I was very happy to be invited to speak at ASBA Fall Meeting, to raise awareness about historic trauma, how it affects Indigenous children and their families, and share ideas about how local school boards can ensure both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students throughout Alberta learn about the Indigenous history of Canada. I was also honoured to visit with the members of the Indigenous Advisory Circle, who support student and trustee learning about the findings of Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Indigenous Peoples of Alberta.

Senator PALB, Lori Jess, ASBA Board Chair and Vivian Abboud, CEO
